Sunbelt Team's First Day in Kenya

The Sunbelt team was excited to get started on their first day in Kenya!

Awake and ready to go in Shuhan
Awake and ready to go in Shuhan

They had breakfast then packed up at the Shuhan for the ride to Nyeri. Their first stop was the FY Resort for lunch where they were joined by Grace and Misheal (Charle's wife and son). They enjoyed a very good meal before heading to Nyeri OVC Center at Nyeri Baptist Church.

They were greeted by Elizabeth Wanjohi and Margaret (OVC Leaders) and Julius (OVC Coordinator for LEFTI).  Sunbelt has been in partnership with Nyeri OVC for 10 years. Sunbelt, in partnership with Kenny Pipe, provides for Orphans Vulnerable Children for their high school and college educations.

A part of the OVC program that has been added by Robert Muteithia and the Nyeri OVC team is Basic Skills Training. The young people are trained in a skill that will allow them to support themselves.

The team saw beadwork, sewing, and cakes baked over an open fire—those cakes were sweet and very good.

Sunbelt has been a vital part of transforming the Nyeri Slum through partnership with Nyeri OVC and Nyeri Baptist Church.

The team headed off to their home for the next 6 days—the GOLDEN GATE HOTEL.

Today the team ate their way across central Kenya! Breakfast—Shuhan Lunch—FY Resort Snack—Cake and Fresh Fruit, Nyeri OVC.

Robert and Charles have already written to tell us: This group is very excited. Very good group!

Tomorrow they will worship and fellowship with Shalom Baptist Church, Shalom before starting their week's work!
