Charles and Grace Mbugua
Charles and Grace first met Floyd and Bonnie in 1994 before the vision of Teleios Ministry ever came about. While on a teaching mission trip in Kenya, Bernard Kabaru Mwangi took them by a hospital to visit Grace and Charles as she had just given birth to their second child.
At that time, they were leaders in a youth program which would later expand to include ministry to the entire family as a way of creating stability in the lives of young people. Both were also working at the Kenya Baptist Theological College.
Years passed. God led the Mbuguas away from the seminary down new paths: Charles as CEO of a business and Grace working with an organization that helped women who were HIV positive to adapt their lives to the reality of that diagnosis.
All the while, He was at work shaping visions for each of them. When revealed the visions would lead to partnering with Teleios Ministry and a move from Limuru (near Nairobi) to Mweiga in Nyeri County.
After a short consultancy, Charles was instrumental in founding the Teleios partner organization Life Change Investments. LCI is a Kenyan venture capital business which seeks to train and support owners of small businesses throughout Kenya. Charles’ vision is to teach these owners how to have financially viable businesses through strong business principles and day-to-day operations of their business. The most important aspect of LCI is that Charles mentors these owners in their faith walk and aids them as they bring to and implement Christian values in the marketplace. Charles also manages and continues to develop an extensive LCI farming operation.
Grace’s God-given vision is centered around building relationships with women. As relationships grow, God opens doors to be able to help empower women in a variety of circumstances.
Through a holistic approach to ministry, she is committed to helping women of all ages to thrive in a very difficult culture. It might be through helping them with education, helping them to develop vocational opportunities, teaching and establishing programs for overcoming mental health issues, or changing living conditions in their homes, i. e. access to water. All of these things are accomplished while being bathed in the love of Jesus flowing through Grace! Leading Bible studies and mentoring women in the faith are a vital part of Grace’s calling. Teleios Ministry partners with Grace to network resources needed to help with these ways of empowering women.
Grace and Charles have two sons- Nathan and Mishael. These fine young men have completed their educations. They live and work in the Nairobi area.
