Partnerships in Romania

Floyd met Attila when he was invited to teach classes at the Hungarian Baptist Seminary of Romania. Bonnie met Adel through Adel’s sister, Elizabeth while on a Mission trip in 1999. Elizabeth had served as a translator. Adel (Fekete) was a high school student. Attila was a student at the seminary. They both grew up in the village of Sarmasag in Salaj district and attended the village’s Hungarian Baptist Church.

Upon graduation from seminary, God led Attila to the Mures region to pastor and do mission work among the Roma people (Gypsies) there. Adel finished high school and continued her education at the university pursuing a degree in education with an emphasis on special needs students. After graduation, Adel went to England to work for a brief period of time. God brought her back home to Sarmasag and she began minister among the gypsies at the village edge there.

Meanwhile Attila was fulfilling duties as single man pastoring the church at Reghin. He was also going into the gypsy village of Apalina sharing God’s love through children’s meetings and building relationships. God was shaping Attila’s vision for reaching the unreached people of that area with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

God was also at work in the hearts of Adel and Attila drawing them together. Love grew and in time they were married in 2011. What a dynamic pair they have become in ministry through the years!

Adela was born in the city of Reghin, in Mures county and has lived her entire life in the beautiful region of Transylvania in Romania. She attended public schools from primary school through high school then went to the university in Targu-Mures, a nearby city, studying philology Romanian-English.

Bonnie first met Adela when she served alongside her working in summer camps for Gypsy children. During those years, as they taught children, served together during the day and roomed together at night, a deep friendship was forged.

Adela had been teaching in public school for 24 years when God called her to leave everything and start to work full time for Him in Kingdom service. There was great joy even though there were challenges in living by faith…trusting God‘s timing for provision of her needs.

Otto and Elizabeth Kis grew up in the same village of Sarmasag, Romania, attended the same church, and were married while he was at the seminary. There God placed in his heart the desire to be a church planter. Otto and Elizabeth were called as church planters in Sacele by the Hungarian Baptist Church in Brasov, Romania. Teleios Ministry was a partner in the church planting from the very beginning as Floyd had taught Otto at the seminary and Elizabeth had acted as Bonnie's translator in 1999. She is a trained nurse.

At the beginning of their ministry in Sacele, Otto and Elizabeth found a "hidden" community – people with disabilities. Otto began to serve their practical needs and share the love of Jesus Christ with them. Slowly, Otto brought them out of their hiding into a community of faith, and the Hope Group was born. The work there opened the door among the Hungarian Baptist Convention of Romania to be more aware of and accommodating within their church facilities to people with disabilities. Another aspect of this ministry is a warehouse that stores and then distributes equipment donated to aid those with disabilities.
